Vanessa Blake
Vanessa Blake is a Brooklyn/Queens native. Her interest and foundation in film began to take shape when she joined the audio/visual department at her church. Over time Vanessa became the leader of that robust department. Vanessa attended continuing education classes New York University in the area of video production and has continued her love of learning about film and media through various on line tools and workshops.
Vanessa has produced work with The Newark Museum, The Newark Public Library, Essence as well as independent short form and feature works. Being Gladys, MHANY 35 Years of Affordable Housing, In My Solitude, Dr. Kenney – A Life Well Lived, Gone Too Soon and the web series, I Am Not a Threat are some of the titles. In 2019, the feature length documentary titled Being Gladys, which Vanessa worked on in several capacities won best documentary at the Newark International Film Festival. Vanessa is currently in post production on the documentary, The Water Came In.
Vanessa is a member of the Community Media Center (CMC), a space within Express Newark's facility where creatives can collaborate and produce media projects, and a board member of Women in Media – Newark.
A lifelong New York Knick fan and a Brooklyn/Queens native, Vanessa currently resides in New Jersey with her husband.
